Hello and good evening everybody! If you haven't guessed by now, I'm going to give my first impressions of the trailer in a condensed article.
Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters May 6th, and its only in the early month of March but MARVEL has me hooked and purchasing tickets to the big day. First, the tone of the film is a lot darker, which it should be since the title of the film is Civil WAR! We get a brief history lesson from William Hurt's character about the accountability or lack there of the Avengers have. This trailer finally gets the darkness that BvS captured in its first and last trailer. Two sides, two heroes, which do you choose? The more important news coming out of this new trailer is the very end. Our one and only favorite web-slinger, Spider-Man.
Yes, you read correctly. Spider-Man made his long awaited debut in the MCU as the final shot of this trailer. The picture painted with the very limited screen time we got of him is this, he clearly got a Tony Stark upgrade for his suit so the suit we saw in the trailer might not be the suit we see him in when we do meet him in the film. Second, and SPOILER ALERT, Spider-Man clearly seems to be on Iron Man's side. So the question imposed is why? Lastly, the tone of the trailer implies we might see one hero fall. Question is who? Many have speculated that Cap himself will be the one to bite it but maybe not. Overall did we get too much from this trailer? Yes. But was it good? I give it a 9/10.
Make sure to comeback as a brand new episode of Art of Cinema Podcast will be up shortly reviewing the Civil War trailer more in-depth.
